During the development of Spinal Cord Injury Ontario’s Wheelchair Relay Challenge website, I had an idea about producing and embedding a video, that would bring more spark to the user experience and generate excitement and interest in the event.
To accomplish this idea, we needed to capture or create the spirit of competition, the feeling of “bragging rights” to the trophy, all while raising the most funds for the organization’s mission. I was able to retrieve older video footage from previous events archives, especially ones used for promotion on television. The idea was to repurpose all these videos, add life to them and edit them in a way that made them feel more modern, exciting and powerful.
I also composed the score to the video, giving it a sort of “epic” soundtrack feel, in order to generate that excitement.
I also wanted to create the feel of the organization being ushered into the future, by creating an in-your-face 3D animation of the organization’s logo. This also gave life to soundtrack, creating a symbiotic relationship of expression.
The result was a huge turnout of competitors and fundraisers for the day of the event. The organization had raised over $150,000.00, a percentage more than the previous year.
