This Lego land scene was one of the first ideas we were exploring, to see if it would fit the 2017 annual report for our client. This would be a fun take on the theme of rebuilding an organization, using Lego as a metaphor.
Although creating a Lego scene in some way should be less complex than, say a hollywood 3D project which uses millions of vertices and points on the object models, a lego scene made up of many characters and backgrounds is no different.
In fact, this scene alone had thousands of objects, vertices and over half a million points to make up the objects as a combined whole. This also included image maps, plus the use of radiosity and clean anti-aliasing.
So plenty of point reduction had to be applied to this project, in order to continue producing the model and eventually, a 3D animation, to be displayed for the project
